What does gratitude have to do with politics?

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 1 Timothy 2:1-2

I’ve been challenge to put every politician I hear myself complain about to instead pray for them them this way:

I will pray God helps them. I will intercede for them. And give thanks for them.

And I’ve started thinking about them as real people, with real lives they live and can be curious enough to think about what good they are operating from. Almost everyone does what they do because they feel they are on the side of good.

Maybe that’s challenge we can all do:

Pray for every politician you complain about like this: I will pray God helps them. I will intercede for them. And give thanks for them.

In a world that moves fast and demands much, pausing to appreciate each breath can transform your perspective and deepen your walk with God. Ready to experience breath blessings?

Why Focus on Breath for Gratitude?

Our breath is a daily miracle. Every inhale and exhale is a reminder of God's sustaining power. Genesis 2:7 tells us, “Then the LORD God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”
This verse underscores that our breath is not just biology—it’s a gift from our Creator.

The Power of Breath in Daily Life

Breathing is automatic—we do it thousands of times a day without a second thought. Yet, intentional focus on our breath can:

  • Calm anxiety and stress
  • Renew our sense of God’s presence
  • Remind us of God’s sustaining power

Psalm 150:6 says, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” Each inhale and exhale becomes an opportunity to worship.

How to Practice Breath Gratitude Today

1. Find a Quiet Space

Sit comfortably. Close your eyes if you can. Place your hand on your heart or stomach and feel your breath.

2. Breathe Deeply and Slowly

Inhale deeply through your nose. Hold for a moment. Exhale gently through your mouth.

With every inhale, silently pray: “Thank You, Lord, for this breath.”
With every exhale, pray: “Your Spirit gives me life.”

Do this for 2–5 minutes. Notice any changes in your mood or outlook.
